Rahul Gandhi Attacks Amit Shah Over Alleged Police Action Against Students, Says Home Minister Is Hiding His Face

In a post on X, Gandhi claimed, “The country’s Home Minister is hiding his face because he is guilty of wrongdoing against the students.”

The Congress leader’s remarks came as the Opposition continued to raise concerns over the alleged police action against students during the July 20 “Sansad Chalo” march organised by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. The issue triggered fresh disruptions in Parliament on Wednesday, with proceedings in the Lok Sabha being adjourned until 2 PM shortly after the House met, as opposition members continued their protests.

Opposition leaders have been demanding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah address Parliament on the matter. Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said both leaders should come to the House and make statements, adding that discussions were the only way to find a solution.

“We want Prime Minister Modi ji and Home Minister Amit Shah to come to the House and give their statements. We are ready for a discussion. A solution can only come through dialogue,” Kharge said. He also accused the government of disrespecting Parliament by not attending proceedings. “The House has been functioning for several days. They should come here. By staying away from Parliament, they are insulting the institution,” Kharge added.

Congress MP Syed Naseer Hussain also demanded answers from the Prime Minister and Home Minister over allegations of the use of force and pellet firing during the Jantar Mantar protests. Hussain said Shah should clarify the government’s position on the alleged police action against students, questions surrounding donations linked to the Ayodhya Ram Temple, and the issue of restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.

Several Opposition MPs, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, staged a protest march inside the Parliament complex. The leaders walked from the Gandhi statue at Prerna Sthal to Makar Dwar, raising concerns over the alleged police action against CJP protesters, the Ayodhya donation controversy, and other political issues.
