Pune Airport runway temporarily closed after a Indian Air Force aircraft made a hard landing.

Flight operations at Pune Airport resumed on Saturday morning after being suspended overnight following an incident involving an aircraft of the Indian Air Force. Authorities confirmed that all necessary safety checks were carried out before services were restored. According to officials, departure flights restarted at 7:30 am, while arrival operations resumed at 8:00 am. The disruption began late at night, around 10:25 pm, when a fighter aircraft experienced an undercarriage failure during landing. The issue led to the aircraft blocking the runway, forcing a temporary halt to all flight operations.
Airport authorities stated that, based on inputs from Air Force air traffic control, it took approximately four to five hours to clear the runway and make it operational again. Murlidhar Mohol confirmed the suspension and reassured that the aircrew involved in the incident were safe, with no damage reported to civilian property. He also mentioned that airlines were promptly informed about the disruption and subsequent restoration plans.
The Indian Air Force issued a statement noting that the runway was temporarily unavailable due to the incident but added that efforts to restore normal operations were already underway. The force emphasized that there were no casualties or damage to infrastructure. Pune Airport operates under a dual-use model, accommodating both civilian flights and military operations. A police official later described the incident as a “hard landing,” though further details were not disclosed.
