Priyanka Gandhi called it unfortunate that Assam MP Pradyut Bordoloi quit over a ticket issue.

Priyanka Gandhi on Wednesday described the resignation of Assam Congress leader Pradyut Bordoloi as “very unfortunate,” indicating he was likely upset over the allocation of a ticket for the Assembly elections. She added that the party wished he had discussed the matter with the leadership before stepping down.
Bordoloi alleged that he was sidelined and mistreated within the party, which led him to end his lifelong association with Congress. He said he felt disrespected and unsupported, leaving him disheartened and isolated despite years of loyalty. The Congress has fielded his son, Prateek Bordoloi, from the Margherita constituency. His resignation follows the recent exit of former Assam Congress chief Bhupen Kumar Borah, who joined the BJP after decades in the party.
Assembly elections in Assam for all 126 seats will be held in a single phase on April 9, with counting scheduled for May 4, as announced by the Election Commission of India. The contest is expected to be between the ruling BJP-led NDA, headed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and the Congress, which is aiming to return to power.
Elections will also take place in West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry. While Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry will vote on April 9, Tamil Nadu will go to polls on April 23, and West Bengal will hold elections in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with results for all regions to be declared on May 4.
