PM Modi Visits Puttaparthi, Offers Respects to Sri Sathya Sai Baba

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday visited Prasanthi Nilayam in Puttaparthi, located in Andhra Pradesh’s Sri Sathya Sai district, where he paid homage at Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s Mahasamadhi. He also offered special prayers before the golden statue of Sathya Sai Baba in Sai Kulwant Hall, accompanied by priests chanting Vedic hymns.
As part of the centenary celebrations of Sathya Sai Baba, the Prime Minister took part in the godanam (cow donation) ceremony, personally handing over cows to four farmers. After receiving blessings from the priests, he joined the centenary events alongside Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Union Ministers Ram Mohan Naidu, G. Kishan Reddy, Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma, and state minister Nara Lokesh. Several notable figures, including Sachin Tendulkar, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust Managing Trustee RJ Rathnakar, were also present.
Upon arriving at Puttaparthi Airport, Modi was welcomed warmly by the Chief Minister, the Deputy Chief Minister, and senior officials. The centenary celebrations opened with a vibrant cultural presentation featuring hundreds of students from institutions managed by the Sathya Sai Central Trust. During his visit, the Prime Minister will release a commemorative coin and a set of postage stamps celebrating Sathya Sai Baba’s life, teachings, and legacy. He is also scheduled to address the gathering.
Before reaching Puttaparthi, Modi paid tribute to Sathya Sai Baba in a post on X, praising his contributions to community service and spiritual upliftment. He mentioned having had several opportunities to interact and learn from him in the past and shared photographs from those earlier meetings.
