Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on March 13 and 14 to inaugurate several development projects and distribute land rights certificates to members of the tea garden community, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced. Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Tuesday, Sarma said the Prime Minister will dedicate development projects worth around Rs 10,000 crore to the nation during his visit. Modi is also scheduled to address public gatherings in Kokrajhar, Guwahati and Silchar as part of his two day tour.

According to the Chief Minister, the Prime Minister will first arrive in Kokrajhar, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several projects related to the region. Later on March 13, he will travel to Guwahati and release an installment of the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme from the city.

A major highlight of the visit will be the distribution of land pattas to the tea garden community. Sarma said the community has been living in Assam for nearly 200 years but many families have not yet received legal land ownership. During the event, the Prime Minister will hand over the first land rights certificate to a tea garden worker, marking the beginning of a broader land ownership distribution program across the state.

On March 14, Modi will visit Silchar, where he will lay the foundation stone of the Silchar Shillong Guwahati Express Highway. The project is expected to be built at a cost of around Rs 22,000 crore. He will also dedicate the 150 MW Kopili Hydro Power Project, developed by the state government. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Assam on March 15. He will inaugurate Pragjyotishpur Medical College and later attend the BJP Yuva Sankalp Samavesh in Guwahati, where about one lakh youth workers are expected to participate.
