Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday shared songs dedicated to Chhathi Maiya, highlighting the spiritual and cultural importance of the Chhath Mahaparv, and extended his greetings to devotees across India. In a post on X, he wrote, "On this auspicious occasion, I am sharing songs devoted to Chhathi Maiya, which are truly mesmerizing. My heartfelt wishes to all devotees across the country, including Bihar, and my respects to those observing the fast."

PM Modi reflected on his visit to Begusarai on Friday, noting the deep bond between renowned folk singer Sharda Sinha and the region. He added that Sharda Sinha and other Bihari folk artists have enriched the Chhath festival through their music. Describing the festival, he said Chhath Mahaparv represents "a unique confluence of faith, worship, and love for nature," with offerings made to the rising and setting sun and prasad reflecting the vibrant colors of nature. He emphasized the devotional and natural essence captured in Chhath songs and melodies.

The Prime Minister also noted that Chhath is celebrated globally, with Indian families around the world participating in its traditions. "I pray that Chhathi Maiya showers her abundant blessings on everyone," he said. PM Modi described the festival as "a symbol of simplicity and restraint, whose purity and adherence to rituals are unparalleled," adding that scenes at Chhath ghats inspire family and social harmony, and that the ancient tradition has had a lasting societal impact. This year, the four-day Chhath Mahaparv begins with the sacred Nahay-Khay ritual on October 25, followed by Kharna, Chhath Puja, and concluding with Usha Arghya on October 28.
