PM Modi reaches his hotel in Brasilia, greeted warmly by members of the Indian diaspora.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was warmly welcomed by the Indian diaspora upon his arrival at a hotel in Brasília on Monday (local time). Members of the Indian community, waving Indian flags, had gathered outside the hotel to greet him. PM Modi also engaged with children who came to see him. He was treated to a cultural performance as he arrived and interacted with the performers afterward, expressing his appreciation. A spiritual performance was also held in his honor, and PM Modi posed for a photograph with the artists.
Modi landed in Brasília on Monday evening as part of his State Visit to Brazil. He was received at the airport by Brazil’s Defence Minister, Jose Mucio Monteiro Filho. A traditional Brazilian Samba Reggae performance added a festive atmosphere to the welcome. This visit follows PM Modi’s participation in the BRICS Summit held in Rio de Janeiro from July 6–7. His trip to Brazil was at the invitation of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. In a post on X, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted the strengthening India-Brazil partnership and mentioned the musical welcome Modi received.
During the visit, PM Modi is expected to hold comprehensive talks with President Lula to enhance the Strategic Partnership between India and Brazil, focusing on key sectors such as trade, defence, space, energy, technology, health, agriculture, and cultural exchange, as per an official MEA release. Calling the Rio leg of his Brazil visit “productive,” PM Modi shared a video on X featuring his participation in the BRICS Summit, bilateral meetings, and the warm reception he received from the Indian diaspora in Rio. He praised President Lula and Brazil’s leadership of the BRICS grouping, stating that the discussions were wide-ranging and fruitful.
He posted, “Now on the way to Brasília for the State Visit. Will hold detailed talks with President Lula on different aspects of India-Brazil ties.” Before arriving in Brazil, PM Modi had completed a visit to Argentina, where he met with Argentine President Javier Milei. Following his engagements in Brazil, PM Modi is scheduled to visit Namibia on July 9 and address its Parliament.
