Perplexity’s AI browser, Comet, is now available for iPhone users. Listed on the App Store, it is designed as an AI-powered browser that acts as both a personal assistant and a thinking partner. The company says it adapts to users’ habits and work styles over time, helping them stay organised. First launched in November last year, Comet was already available on Mac, Windows, and Android, and is now rolling out to iPhones running iOS 18 or later.

Perplexity describes Comet as a browser built for “agentic search,” meaning it can handle multi-step tasks with minimal input. Instead of relying only on traditional searches, it uses an AI-powered search engine to gather and combine information from across the web. This approach allows it to understand user intent, pull data from multiple sources, and carry out tasks more independently.

The browser focuses on creating a more interactive, conversation-based experience rather than simple page browsing. It brings tasks into a single interface that understands what users want, reducing the need to switch between tabs or apps. Comet can manage entire browsing sessions, helping organise workflows, simplify tasks, and minimise interruptions like ads.

It is particularly useful for comparing products, doing research, or handling complex queries. A side-panel assistant can summarise web pages, answer questions, and perform actions such as booking hotels, sending emails, or completing purchases. Additionally, an integrated assistant provides context-aware responses based on the content currently displayed on the screen.
