OpenAI launches an app store-style directory within ChatGPT that allows access to third-party applications.

OpenAI has launched a built-in app directory inside ChatGPT, shifting the platform toward an app-focused experience on iOS, Android, and the web. This new section works like an internal app marketplace, letting users link third-party services directly within ChatGPT and complete tasks without switching apps. OpenAI says these integrations bring in outside context and support actions such as booking trips, handling files, or generating documents from user prompts.
The directory is arranged into categories like Featured, Lifestyle, and Productivity, and offers integrations with services including Booking.com, Spotify, and Dropbox. Users can enable an app by selecting it, approving access, and then using it through normal chat interactions. OpenAI has also updated its naming by referring to what were previously called connectors, such as Google Drive, simply as apps.
Apple Music integration in ChatGPT: With the Apple Music integration, users can ask ChatGPT to create playlists using natural language prompts, such as a high-energy holiday rock mix or a workout playlist inspired by a television show. ChatGPT can also help users find songs, albums, or artists through conversational queries, even when exact details are unclear.
To start using Apple Music in ChatGPT, users need to enable the Apple Music app in settings by opening ChatGPT, going to the Apps section in Settings, browsing available apps, selecting Apple Music, and linking their Apple Music account. After setup, users can return to the chat interface and direct queries to Apple Music to receive results.
