Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Nitin Nabin on Tuesday announced that the party would begin a statewide agitation against the Congress-led government in Telangana, accusing it of failing to deliver on the promises made during the Assembly election campaign. Addressing the Telangana BJP Executive Meeting at the Rock Convention Centre in Medchal-Malkajgiri district, Nabin asked party leaders and workers to step up their campaign against the state government and take public issues to people across villages and towns.

Nabin said the BJP’s role was to raise concerns affecting different sections of society, including farmers, youth, women, government employees and other communities. He urged the party cadre to strengthen their presence at the grassroots level and highlight what he described as the “failures and unfulfilled promises” of the Congress administration.

Comparing the functioning of the BJP and Congress governments, Nabin claimed that the BJP under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always delivered on its commitments, while alleging that the Congress government in Telangana had not implemented several key election guarantees after coming to power.

“The people supported Congress with hope, but those hopes have been disappointed. The government must answer for its failure to fulfil its promises,” Nabin said. Launching a fresh attack on the state government, the BJP leader alleged that Telangana was being used for political interests and accused the Congress of running what he called an “ATM for Delhi” through the “RR Tax” model. He claimed that state resources should instead be focused on development and public welfare.

Announcing the party’s next move, Nabin said the BJP would organise a sustained statewide campaign involving protests, public meetings and outreach programmes to highlight issues raised by the party against the Congress government. He also criticised the previous BRS government, alleging financial irregularities linked to the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. Nabin claimed that while the BRS government had misused public funds through the project, the current Congress government was allegedly moving towards similar actions through the proposed Musi River development initiative.

The BJP president further alleged that Congress, BRS and AIMIM often cooperate politically despite projecting themselves as separate parties, claiming that such arrangements were against the interests of Telangana’s people. Accusing Congress of prioritising political interests over national and public welfare concerns, Nabin said the BJP was working to provide an alternative political option in the state.

Highlighting the BJP’s growing organisational strength in Telangana, Nabin expressed confidence that the party would continue expanding its support base. He credited party workers and public backing for the BJP’s growth and said the party was preparing for a larger role in the state’s future politics.

“We are seeing the BJP becoming stronger in Telangana. With the commitment of our workers and support from the people, we are confident of forming a BJP government in the state in the future,” he said. The Telangana BJP Executive Meeting was attended by senior party leaders, elected representatives, office-bearers and workers from across the state, where discussions were held on organisational expansion and upcoming political programmes.
