Nepal-Tibet Border Disaster: Actor Manasi Parekh Reveals She Visited Flood-Hit Area Five Days Earlier

Actress Manasi Parekh, who is currently in China, has shared an emotional update after a devastating flash flood hit Gyirong Port in Tibet, revealing that she had visited the same location just five days before the disaster. Parekh said she was scheduled to return to Gyirong Port, but the area was later inundated by floodwaters. Sharing footage of the affected region on Instagram, she expressed shock at how dramatically the situation had changed within just a few days.

In one of her posts, the actress recalled her recent visit, saying she had been warmly welcomed at the location only five days earlier. She described it as heartbreaking to see the same place now submerged under water. The actress also reflected on the unpredictability of life and expressed concern for those caught in the disaster. She said she and her companions were safe in China and that efforts were being made to help them return home, while the Isha Foundation was also working to assist people affected by the floods.

The flash floods have caused extensive destruction in parts of Nepal, particularly along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river systems. Several roads and bridges have been damaged, complicating rescue operations in the affected regions. According to information released by the Nepal Tourism Board, hundreds of travellers were initially reported missing across Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and Gorkha districts. Among them were 178 Indian nationals, while people from several other countries were also reported missing.

The tourism authorities said the figures were being verified in coordination with travel agencies, tour guides, local officials and security agencies. Rescue and relief operations are continuing across the affected areas. Nepal's security personnel are using helicopters as well as ground teams to reach stranded people, while authorities and relief agencies are providing essential supplies, including food, drinking water, medicines, medical assistance and temporary shelter.
