NEET-UG 2026 Cancelled After Paper Leak Allegations, Sharmila Demands Accountability From PM Modi

The NEET-UG 2026 examination has reportedly been cancelled following allegations of a question paper leak, triggering widespread concern among students and a sharp political backlash across the country. According to preliminary information, irregularities were detected after reports suggested that portions of the examination paper had similarities with a set of questions circulated prior to the test. The suspected leak has raised serious questions about the integrity of one of India’s most important medical entrance examinations.
Following the development, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to initiate a detailed investigation into the matter, with central agencies likely to be involved to trace the origin of the alleged leak and identify those responsible. The cancellation has left lakhs of medical aspirants in uncertainty, with students now awaiting official clarification on whether a fresh examination will be conducted and how the academic calendar will be adjusted.
The issue has taken a political turn. Sharmila has strongly reacted to the situation, questioning the repeated failures in preventing examination leaks. She urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take responsibility for what she described as a “deep-rooted paper leak network” affecting national-level competitive exams. Her statement has intensified the debate over exam security in India, with opposition voices and education experts also raising concerns about systemic loopholes that allow such incidents to occur repeatedly.
This is not the first time allegations of irregularities have surfaced in major entrance exams, and the latest controversy is expected to renew demands for stricter monitoring, advanced security protocols, and transparent investigation mechanisms. As of now, authorities have not officially confirmed the cancellation details or announced a revised schedule. Students and parents are awaiting an official statement regarding the next steps and future of the examination process.
