Narendra Modi met his Finnish counterpart Petteri Orpo for a bilateral discussion ahead of the third India-Nordic Summit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held bilateral talks with Finland Prime Minister Petteri Orpo ahead of the third India Nordic Summit. Earlier he also met Iceland Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir during his engagements before the summit. He further held discussions with Norway Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in Oslo where both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation by upgrading ties into a green strategic partnership.

He described the meetings as fruitful and emphasized collaboration in clean energy, sustainable development, blue economy and green shipping. He also said both sides explored deeper cooperation in innovation research education healthcare and skill development. He welcomed Norway joining the Indo Pacific Oceans Initiative.

On Monday India and Norway signed 12 agreements across climate maritime technology and scientific sectors strengthening bilateral ties. The visit marked a major upgrade in relations with both countries agreeing to a Green Strategic Partnership focused on sustainable growth and clean energy transition.

A joint statement highlighted climate action circular economy and use of Norwegian expertise with Indian scale and manufacturing strength. India and Norway also launched a Digital Development Partnership to boost cooperation in digital public infrastructure and open ecosystems supporting Digital India and global outreach.

The initiative aims to expand collaboration in DPI solutions and help Global South countries adopt scalable digital systems in partnership with Norway. PM Modi is currently on a multi country visit including UAE Netherlands Sweden and Norway marking an important diplomatic outreach across Europe and West Asia.

The tour highlights India focus on strengthening international partnerships climate cooperation and technological collaboration with partner nations. These engagements reflect expanding strategic ties and shared commitment to sustainable growth innovation and global cooperation among partner countries today.
