Kesari 2 OTT Release: Date and Platform to Stream Akshay Kumar's Film Online?

While Akshay Kumar’s comedy film Housefull 5 continues to entertain audiences in theatres, his earlier historical courtroom drama, Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh, is now set to reach viewers through its OTT debut. Originally released in cinemas on April 18, 2025, the film will be available for streaming from June 13 on JioHotstar. After completing a successful 50-day run in theatres, the film is ready to engage a wider audience online.
Kesari Chapter 2 is based on the book The Case That Shook the Empire by Raghu and Pushpa Palat. The film tells the powerful story of C. Sankaran Nair, a respected Indian barrister and member of the Viceroy’s Council, who was appointed by the British to investigate the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. While they expected a report that aligned with their version of events, Nair’s investigation led him to uncover horrifying truths. Refusing to stay silent, he boldly challenged the official British narrative and sought justice for the victims.
The film stars Akshay Kumar as Sankaran Nair, with R. Madhavan portraying advocate Neville McKinley and Ananya Panday playing Dilreet Gill, a determined law student and co-counsel. Regina Cassandra appears as Sankaran’s wife, Parvathy Nair, while other notable performances include Simon Paisley Day as General Reginald Dyer, Alexx O’Nell as Lord Chelmsford, Amit Sial as Tirath Singh, and Mark Bennington as Michael O’Dwyer.
Critics have praised the film for its gripping storytelling and strong performances. The ETimes review gave the film a 3.5-star rating, highlighting Akshay Kumar’s compelling portrayal of Sankaran Nair. R. Madhavan’s role is described as intense and composed, while Ananya Panday’s transformation from a nervous newcomer to a fierce cross-examiner adds emotional depth to the courtroom drama. The film’s narrative and performances make it a must-watch, now available to stream from the comfort of home.
