The Kashmir Valley continues to be gripped by a cold wave, with temperatures remaining below zero in several areas. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of -2.9°C, marking the lowest in Jammu and Kashmir. Other places experiencing sub-zero conditions include Pahalgam at -2.8°C, Kupwara at -2.4°C, and Qazigund at -1.6°C, while regions like Gulmarg (1.6°C) and Kukernag (0.1°C) hover just above freezing. Daytime temperatures across the valley range between 8°C and 14°C.

The plunging temperatures have brought foggy mornings, as seen near Dal Lake, where locals are burning firewood and jogging to keep warm. Tourists continue to flock to the region, attracted by the serene winter landscape and the picturesque environment. Despite the cold, daily life in the valley continues, with residents carrying on their routines without disruption.

One local shared with ANI that while the weather is freezing, it is enjoyable, and ordinary people are unlikely to be affected. He encouraged people to embrace the cold, suggesting morning runs and outdoor activities to maintain health, regardless of snowfall or rain. Speaking about tourism, he added that visitors from other states enhance the region’s charm and experience. He noted that tourists often leave enchanted by the winter scenery and the warmth of local hospitality, making Kashmir a welcoming destination even in the harsh cold.
