Hong Kong's well-known Mon Kee cafe is set to launch at the newly revamped Raffles City food court.

For a long time, the only way Singaporeans could savour Mon Kee’s famous scrambled eggs and pineapple buns was by flying to Hong Kong. But that’s about to change, as the popular Hong Kong-style diner, also known as a cha chaan teng, is opening its first outlet in Singapore. Set to launch in July, Mon Kee will be part of the newly renovated food court, The Food Place by Food Republic, at Raffles City. Diners can look forward to favourites like the award-winning Char Siew Scrambled Egg Rice and the Quartet Pineapple Bun Sandwich, alongside other traditional Hong Kong dishes.
The brand's arrival in Singapore is a collaboration with Ken Loon, the founder of The Naked Finn and BurgerLabo. AsiaOne has contacted him for more details about the launch. Mon Kee first opened in Wan Chai in 2016, and its popularity led to further outlets in Quarry Bay, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Mong Kok over the years.
The Food Place’s reopening brings with it not just Mon Kee, but a lineup of other well-known names. These include Smash by BurgerLabo, known for its seared smash burgers, and Kam’s Roast Express, the casual offshoot of Hong Kong’s Michelin-starred Kam’s Roast. Ju Xing Fish, a quick-service version of the Michelin Bib Gourmand-awarded Ju Xing Home, will also open, offering sauerkraut fish. Other stalls at the revamped food court include Fitra Chicken Rice, Li Xin Teochew Fishball Noodles, Koo Kee Yong Tow Foo Mee, Java Kitchen, and Wikedo Western, bringing a diverse mix of flavours to the heart of the city.
