Gen. Dhiraj Seth Inaugurates AASHVAST Facility to Boost Security of Mission-Critical Military Electronics

The Indian Army has inaugurated AASHVAST, short for Assessment and Analysis of Electronic Systems Hardware for Vulnerabilities and Security Threats, a specialised facility aimed at strengthening the security, reliability and integrity of mission-critical military electronics. The facility was inaugurated by General Dhiraj Seth, Chief of the Army Staff, highlighting the Army’s growing focus on protecting advanced defence systems from emerging cyber and electronic threats. AASHVAST has been developed with advanced capabilities to assess critical defence platforms, examine their electronic components and identify vulnerabilities that could potentially affect their performance or security.

As modern warfare becomes increasingly dependent on digital and electronic technologies, ensuring the resilience of military electronics has become a key component of operational preparedness. Communication networks, command-and-control systems, sensors and sophisticated weapon platforms all depend on secure and reliable electronic infrastructure. Vulnerabilities in these systems could potentially be exploited by adversaries during a conflict.

AASHVAST is expected to help address these challenges by identifying weaknesses and security risks before they can affect operational systems.
