Ed Sheeran is the top invitee for Benny Blanco and Selena Gomez’s wedding. The couple got engaged in December after dating for over a year. Although they haven’t set a wedding date yet, the 37-year-old producer has already invited Ed, his friend and collaborator on hits like Shape of You, Castle on the Hill, and Justin Bieber’s Love Yourself. On the Australian TV show Today, Benny said, “I just told him, ‘I’m going to have a wedding and you’re going to come to it.’ Eventually Ed will come when we have the wedding, but we haven’t scheduled it yet — but we will!”

After getting engaged, Benny and Selena ended up creating songs together that became their first joint album, I Said I Love You First, released in March. They hadn’t planned to make an album initially but started making music at home just for fun. Benny explained, “We started with one song, then two, then three, then four. She was a joy to work with, even better because at the end of the day, I get to kiss her too.” Interestingly, a bird caused a disagreement between them during recording. Benny told the Smallzy’s Surgery podcast, “We recorded at home, and birds would chirp only when she was recording and never any other time. I didn’t believe her for two weeks.”

Selena recently shared that she doesn’t like calling Benny her fiancé. On the Table Manners podcast in April, she said, “Calling him fiancé feels strange. I usually say ‘my partner’ or just ‘Benny.’ The other day I even said ‘my boyfriend,’ but that’s not really what we are.” After their first kiss, Benny felt certain about their future. On Spotify’s Countdown To series in March, he said, “Right after we kissed, I thought, ‘Wow, I’m probably going to marry this person.’ Well, maybe not marry yet, but I was sure I’d have a baby with her.”
