Devendra Fadnavis said the BJP will win Assam again and break all past records.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday expressed confidence that the BJP will secure a third consecutive victory in Assam, stating that the party is likely to surpass all its previous electoral records. He credited the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, saying their governance has created a strong positive wave across the state, which will translate into a massive win for the BJP.
Speaking to reporters, Fadnavis said the party is firmly on track for a hat-trick in Assam, adding that the scale of support indicates a record-breaking mandate in its favour. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also voiced strong confidence in the BJP’s chances in the upcoming Assembly elections. He highlighted the success of the party’s Vijay Sankalp Yatra, noting the large public participation and support it received. Sarma also took a swipe at AIUDF leader Badruddin Ajmal, claiming that the BJP has significantly weakened its political opponents in the state and will continue to do so.
Sarma further stated that Assam has undergone a major transformation under BJP rule, with a renewed focus on culture and heritage. He asserted that the party enjoys widespread support among indigenous communities and claimed that Congress would struggle to attract local voters in the upcoming polls.
The political contest in Assam is expected to be primarily between the ruling BJP-led NDA and the Congress for the 126-member Assembly. While the BJP aims to retain power for a third term under Sarma’s leadership, the Congress is looking to make a comeback. Voting for all constituencies will take place in a single phase on April 9, with results scheduled to be announced on May 4, as per the Election Commission of India.
