Delhi Police sources on Monday said the handler of the recently uncovered Bangladeshi terror module was in constant contact with its members through the encrypted messaging app Signal. The anti-India posters that appeared in Delhi and Kolkata were allegedly printed in Kolkata after the PDF design was sent from Bangladesh by the handler, identified as Shabbir.

Investigators revealed that the Lashkar-linked group had established a base in Kolkata on Shabbir’s instructions, renting a house on the city’s outskirts for about Rs 8,000 per month. Sources said Shabbir transferred over Rs 80,000 to the module to procure weapons, with more funds expected. The accused remained in regular contact with him via Signal, with Umar Farooq from Malda serving as the main coordinator.

Police sources further stated that the handler planned to move six Bangladeshi nationals arrested in Tamil Nadu to Kolkata and, after executing terror attacks, shift all seven operatives back to Bangladesh. The probe is ongoing. On Sunday, eight individuals, including a Bangladeshi national, were arrested in Tamil Nadu for allegedly plotting a major terror attack at the direction of Pakistan’s ISI and Bangladeshi terror outfits. Earlier, six suspects — Mizanur Rahman, Mohammad Shabat, Umar, Mohammad Litan, Mohammad Shahid and Mohammad Ujjal — were detained in Tamil Nadu and brought to Delhi.

Authorities recovered multiple mobile phones and SIM cards from the accused. Delhi Police said the suspects were sharing social media posts supporting Pakistan-based terror groups. Two arrests were made in Uthukuli, three in Palladam and one in Thirumuruganpoondi. The accused were reportedly employed in the garment sector and were using fake Aadhaar cards to hide their identities. Eight mobile phones and 16 SIM cards were seized during the operation. The suspects allegedly carried out reconnaissance in several cities and put up “Free Kashmir” posters in Delhi. Two more arrests were later made in West Bengal. Delhi Police are now working to bring all the accused from Tamil Nadu to Delhi for further questioning.
