Delhi Police on Friday arrested another suspect in the Azadpur Metro cable theft case. The accused, 23-year-old Shahid from Jahangirpuri, led police to the recovery of 30 metres of copper cable during questioning. Authorities said other accomplices and receivers have been identified, and raids are underway to apprehend them and recover the remaining stolen material.

The case dates back to March 12, when a signalling cable connecting Majlis Park and Bhalswa Metro stations was stolen, disrupting the signalling system and causing service failures. Jasbir Singh, a signal controller at Majlis Park, reported that around 1,000 metres of cable had been removed. A night patrol team later reached the site and found several individuals melting wires for copper in a nearby forested area. One suspect, Sheikh Safiq from Jahangirpuri, was caught on the spot with about 170–180 metres of burnt cable. Police seized the recovered material and registered an FIR at Azadpur Metro police station under relevant sections of the BNS and the DMRC Act.

Delhi Police also arrested two men in connection with a ₹5 lakh robbery. The incident was reported via a PCR call on November 15, 2025, near Shadipur Flyover, where unidentified individuals looted cash and a laptop from a car. One accused, Akash, had already been arrested earlier, while his associates Rahul and Karandas alias Fukka were on the run. Rahul was apprehended from JJ Colony, Inderpuri, on March 10, followed by Karandas’s arrest from the same area on March 15. During interrogation, both admitted their role in the robbery and revealed that the stolen money had already been spent. Police added that Rahul is a repeat offender with several prior criminal cases against him.
