CBI Names Nanded Resident in Fresh NEET-UG Paper Leak Charge Sheet

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a supplementary charge sheet against a Nanded resident in the alleged NEET-UG 2026 question paper leak case, taking the total number of accused named by the agency to 14, according to media reports. The latest charge sheet names Sheshrav Bajrang Suryawanshi, also known as Raj Suryawanshi, who was arrested on September 2. The agency submitted the supplementary filing before a special court in Delhi on Wednesday, October 14.
According to the allegations outlined in reports, Suryawanshi was linked to other accused individuals and allegedly helped distribute leaked examination material to candidates in exchange for money. Investigators have also alleged that candidates were brought to a location in Nanded, Maharashtra, where they were provided access to the questions before the examination.
The CBI further alleges that original educational certificates and identity documents were retained to ensure that payments were made after the test. These claims remain allegations and will be examined through the judicial process. The supplementary charge sheet reportedly includes forensic findings gathered during the investigation. The agency has been examining digital evidence, communications and the alleged links between individuals suspected of obtaining and circulating confidential examination material.
The latest filing follows an earlier charge sheet submitted on July 28 against 13 accused, according to media reports. Those named reportedly included alleged intermediaries, individuals associated with coaching institutes and subject experts linked to the National Testing Agency (NTA). Reports have indicated that no government or NTA official has been named as an accused in the charge sheets.
The alleged paper leak triggered widespread concern over the security of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for undergraduate medical admissions. The controversy raised questions about the protection of confidential examination material and the fairness of the admission process for medical aspirants across the country.
The CBI's investigation is focused on establishing how the examination material was allegedly accessed and circulated before the test, as well as identifying the individuals involved in the suspected network. With the supplementary charge sheet filed, the case will proceed through the relevant judicial process. The accused will have an opportunity to respond to the allegations, and the prosecution will be required to establish its case in court. The filing represents a further development in the investigation, but it does not establish the guilt of the newly named accused. He remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty in accordance with the law.
