Late actor Chadwick Boseman is set to receive a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, five years after his death, according to People. Boseman, who died at 43, will be honoured on November 20. Director Ryan Coogler, who worked with him on Black Panther, and actor Viola Davis, his co-star in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, will speak at the event. His wife, Simone Ledward-Boseman, will accept the recognition on his behalf.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce stated that Boseman’s star will be placed at 6904 Hollywood Blvd. in Los Angeles. Producer Ana Martinez said the Chamber is proud to honour Boseman’s remarkable legacy, noting that his influence on and off screen continues to inspire people worldwide. Boseman, celebrated for portraying significant figures in Black American history, received a posthumous Oscar nomination in 2021 for his role as Levee Green in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, adapted from August Wilson’s 1982 play. His performance earned him Golden Globe, Critics’ Choice, and Screen Actors Guild Awards, all accepted by his wife.

His rise to fame began in 2013 with his portrayal of Jackie Robinson in 42. He later gained acclaim for playing James Brown in Get On Up (2014) and Thurgood Marshall in Marshall (2017), which followed the future Supreme Court Justice early in his legal career. Among Marvel fans, Boseman remains iconic for his role as the superhero Black Panther in the Ryan Coogler–directed film.
