Bandh Over NEET Leak Closes Schools, Colleges Across Telangana

Educational institutions across Telangana remained largely shut on Friday after student organisations observed a statewide bandh to protest the alleged NEET-UG paper leak and demand greater transparency in the examination process. The shutdown affected schools, colleges and universities in several districts, with many private institutions suspending classes as a precautionary measure.

The bandh was called by student groups, including the National Students' Union of India (NSUI), in support of nationwide protests over the alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG examination. Protesters also expressed solidarity with students demonstrating in New Delhi and demanded strict action against those responsible for the alleged paper leak.

In Hyderabad and neighbouring districts, the management of several private schools and colleges announced holidays in advance, citing concerns over student safety and possible disruptions caused by protest marches. While a few institutions remained open, attendance was reported to be low in many places.

Demonstrations were held at multiple locations across the state, where student activists raised slogans demanding a fair investigation into the alleged examination malpractice. Protesters urged the Centre to introduce stronger safeguards to prevent future leaks and ensure that national-level entrance examinations remain transparent and credible. Although the bandh disrupted academic activities, essential services and public transport continued to function in most parts of the state, with police maintaining security at key protest sites to prevent any untoward incidents.
