Major General Vivek Bakshi, General Officer Commanding of the 56 Infantry Division, met with Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General KT Parnaik (Retd) at the Raj Bhavan in Itanagar on Monday. Their meeting focused on the security landscape and strategic developments along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). They also discussed enhancing civil-military cooperation, joint disaster preparedness, welfare programs for ex-servicemen and Veer Naris, and outreach efforts for local communities.

The Governor praised the Indian Army’s commitment and discipline in securing Arunachal Pradesh’s borders and preserving peace in sensitive regions. He expressed strong faith in the Army’s readiness along the LAC and its essential role in defending the nation’s territorial integrity. He also highlighted the success of collaborative projects such as road infrastructure, disaster relief efforts, and civic action initiatives, emphasizing the need for deeper coordination between military forces and civilian administration. He noted that programs like the Vibrant Villages Programme could bring significant transformation when supported jointly by civil and military institutions.

Drawing from his interactions with veterans across the state, the Governor proposed expanding welfare initiatives—such as job fairs, healthcare camps, and pension support—in remote areas. He also encouraged the Army to engage actively with the youth by visiting schools, delivering motivational talks, and promoting awareness about career opportunities in the armed forces.
