Veteran actor Annu Kapoor has spoken in support of leadership that, in his view, prioritises national welfare, saying he stands with anyone who works sincerely for the country, regardless of political identity. He praised the responsibility carried by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, stating that governing a country with a population of 140 crore requires exceptional capability and leadership. He remarked that managing such a vast and diverse nation is not an easy task and, in his opinion, demands leaders who are able to handle complex challenges effectively.

Kapoor also clarified his personal political stance, stressing that although some people may assume he is affiliated with a political party, he is not associated with any. He said he identifies only as a citizen of India and reiterated that his support is for individuals whose actions demonstrably benefit the nation. He added that he would be willing to state this formally if required, emphasizing that he does not hold any political allegiance.

Discussing his interaction with the Prime Minister, Kapoor explained that the meeting took place after he sent an email. According to him, the response was quick and courteous, leading to a direct meeting. He described the interaction as warm and informal, noting that there was no political agenda involved and no discussion about joining politics. He also stated that the Prime Minister did not ask him to enter political life, and the meeting was simply a friendly conversation.

Addressing public speculation about his future intentions, Kapoor firmly dismissed any political ambitions. He further reflected on democratic values, saying that while the Constitution guarantees freedom of speech and the right to criticize the government, it does not permit abusive language. He emphasized that respectful discourse is essential for a healthy democracy, especially in a country as large and diverse as India.
