Andhra Pradesh Police have arrested two more people in an alleged Pakistan-linked espionage case involving the sharing of sensitive information about the Visakhapatnam Naval Dockyard, taking the total number of arrests in the case to four. The latest arrests were made by the Counter Intelligence Cell. The accused, identified as Bongu Ravi and Kadari Srinivas, are suspected of sharing information about naval vessels and submarines with a woman operating under the online identity “Angel Payal”, according to media reports.

Investigators allege that Ravi, who worked for an engineering company associated with the Naval Dockyard, came into contact with the woman through Facebook in 2023. She reportedly claimed to be employed by a shipping company in Dubai. Police suspect that Ravi subsequently shared details about ships and submarines at the naval facility and received money in return. Srinivas, described as his colleague, is accused of assisting in the alleged activity and receiving part of the money.

According to reports, Srinivas travelled to Saudi Arabia in October 2025. Authorities issued a Look Out Circular, and he was reportedly intercepted at Delhi airport on October 11, 2026, after returning to India. He was later taken to Visakhapatnam for questioning. The case was registered at Malkapuram Police Station in Visakhapatnam in October 2025 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Official Secrets Act, 1923.

The latest arrests follow the earlier detention of two other suspects, identified as Pradeep Mukharjee, a naval staff member, and Annam Sai Varaprasad, a contractual driver associated with naval officers. Police are investigating whether the accused supplied sensitive information to suspected Pakistani intelligence operatives.

Media reports have stated that the broader investigation, referred to as “Operation Firewall-2026”, involves multiple agencies and includes 18 suspects, among them 13 naval personnel. Investigators are examining communications, financial transactions and possible links to other individuals.

Visakhapatnam is a strategically important naval centre and serves as the headquarters of the Eastern Naval Command. Authorities consider the protection of information relating to naval assets and restricted installations essential to national security. The investigation is continuing to establish the alleged roles of the accused and determine whether additional individuals were involved. The allegations have not been established in court, and the accused are entitled to due process under the law.
