Anantnag Police in J&K has launched 'Project Hawk Eye' to strengthen security for the Amarnath Yatra.

To ensure the safe, secure, and peaceful conduct of the Amarnath Yatra 2026 (SANJY-2026), Anantnag Police has introduced “Project Hawk Eye,” a comprehensive surveillance and security system designed to maintain round-the-clock monitoring across the entire pilgrimage route, from aerial to ground levels.
Under this initiative, the police have established a multi-layered security framework by combining advanced technology with strategically deployed personnel. For aerial monitoring, five drones have been stationed at key points to provide real-time surveillance and improve situational awareness, allowing quick evaluation of incidents and faster response by ground teams.
On the ground, 28 elevated Machan Morchas (observation posts) have been set up at sensitive and vulnerable locations to enhance visibility and territorial control. In addition, 22 specially trained sniper teams have been deployed at designated sites to strengthen the security grid and improve response readiness.
To further reinforce surveillance, 416 high-resolution CCTV cameras along with a Facial Recognition System (FRS) have been installed at critical points on the yatra route. These systems ensure continuous monitoring and help identify suspicious activity promptly, improving preventive security measures.
Through “Project Hawk Eye,” Anantnag Police has effectively created an integrated surveillance network covering both sky and ground, ensuring uninterrupted monitoring of the pilgrimage route. The initiative highlights the force’s commitment to using modern technology and professional policing methods to provide a safe environment for pilgrims. The police remain fully dedicated to the smooth and secure conduct of SANJY-2026 and have appealed to the public to cooperate with security personnel and immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station for swift action.
