A full emergency was declared at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi on Saturday after an incoming IndiGo flight from Visakhapatnam reported a suspected engine failure mid-air, prompting swift action from airport authorities. Runway 28 was immediately placed on high alert as standard safety procedures were activated to handle the situation efficiently and ensure passenger safety.

According to officials, the flight, carrying 161 passengers on board, was approaching Delhi when the crew alerted air traffic control about a possible technical issue with one of the aircraft’s engines. Upon receiving the information at approximately 10:53 am, emergency protocols were initiated without delay. Multiple response teams, including fire tenders and medical units, were deployed and positioned strategically along the runway to manage any potential risk during landing.

Despite the tense situation, the aircraft landed safely at around 11 am under close monitoring by ground authorities. The pilots handled the situation professionally, ensuring a controlled and secure touchdown. Following the landing, all passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft, and no injuries were reported.

Sources indicated that the quick coordination between the flight crew and airport emergency services played a crucial role in avoiding any mishap. As a precautionary measure, the aircraft was moved for further technical inspection to determine the exact cause of the suspected engine failure. The incident highlights the effectiveness of aviation safety protocols and the preparedness of airport authorities in managing emergencies, ensuring that passenger safety remains the top priority at all times.
