Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday urged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to introduce engineering and medical education in Tamil, emphasizing its importance for students in the state. Speaking at the 56th Raising Day of the CISF at RTC Thakkolam in Ranipet, about 70 km from Chennai, Shah underscored the Modi government's commitment to promoting regional languages.
Highlighting recent reforms, he pointed out that the government had made changes allowing CISF aspirants to write their exams in their respective regional languages, including Tamil. Taking a veiled jab at Stalin’s opposition to Hindi, Shah remarked, "Now, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, Tamil-speaking candidates can also take the CISF exam in their language."
He further appealed to Stalin to introduce Tamil as a medium of instruction for engineering and medical courses, arguing that it would greatly benefit students in the state. Stressing Tamil Nadu’s significant contribution to India’s cultural heritage, Shah praised its role in administrative reforms, education, spirituality, and national unity. "Tamil Nadu has reinforced Indian culture in every sphere, from governance to spiritual advancements," he said. The event featured an impressive display of discipline and skill, including a grand parade, yoga demonstrations, and commando operations.
