In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that the congresswoman’s name was Ilhan Nur Said Elmi and alleged that the name was connected to questions surrounding her reported marriage to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi. He argued that the allegations warranted her immediate resignation and called on House Speaker Mike Johnson to take action. These claims have not been independently established, and Omar’s office has firmly rejected the report about her name.

Responding to Fox News Digital, the congresswoman’s office described the allegation as false and stated that Ilhan Omar is her real name. The report also referred to a legal filing by US Attorney Jeanine Pirro concerning a federal search warrant involving Omar’s residence, in which she was identified as “Ilhan Nur Said Elmi aka Ilhan Abdullahi Omar.”

The controversy follows a search of Omar’s Washington, DC, residence on October 13 by Homeland Security Investigations. The Justice Department confirmed that the search was part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation. According to reports, investigators were examining immigration-related documents, including paperwork reportedly completed by Omar’s late father when she was a child.

Omar criticised the search, accusing the Trump administration of misusing federal law enforcement powers to target political opponents. Her office described the action as an escalation in what it considers a longstanding campaign of political intimidation against the congresswoman.
