Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi, the hospital confirmed on Sunday. This is the second time in June that the 78-year-old leader has been hospitalized. According to an official statement, she is currently under the care of the gastroenterology department due to a stomach-related issue and remains under medical observation. The hospital stated, “Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has been admitted to the gastro department at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi for a stomach-related problem and is under observation.”
Earlier this year, in February, Gandhi had also been treated at the same hospital for a similar gastrointestinal concern. In addition, she was admitted to Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in Shimla on June 7 for a routine health check-up after experiencing minor health issues. Naresh Chauhan, Principal Advisor (Media) to the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, had commented on her condition at that time, saying, “Sonia Gandhi was brought to the hospital for a routine check-up. Her blood pressure was slightly elevated, but she is stable now.”
Despite these recent hospital visits, medical authorities have confirmed that her current condition is stable. Gandhis repeated hospitalizations have raised some concerns, but the party and hospital sources emphasize that she is receiving appropriate care and there is no immediate cause for alarm. The Congress leader’s health continues to be monitored closely by doctors, and further updates are expected depending on her progress.
