At least seven people were killed in a tragic chain collision that occurred early Friday morning on the outskirts of Hoskote in Bengaluru Rural district, according to police officials. The accident took place near Satyavara village along the busy Hoskote–Dabaspete National Highway, a key route frequently used by commuters and transport vehicles.
Police said the incident began when an XUV 700 car bearing registration number KA 03 NW 0138 was travelling from Hoskote toward Devanahalli. The vehicle first rammed into a motorcycle that was moving ahead of it on the highway. Following the initial impact, the driver of the car reportedly lost control of the vehicle. Within seconds, the car veered off course and crashed into a Canter truck, significantly worsening the situation. As the crash created confusion and obstruction on the road, another car approaching the scene became involved, resulting in a major chain accident. The collision ultimately involved two cars, the Canter truck, and the motorcycle, causing severe damage to all vehicles.
Six people travelling inside the XUV 700 died instantly due to the force of the crash, while the motorcyclist also succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene. Authorities suspect that the victims were residents of Kothanur, though their identities are yet to be officially verified. The deceased were later transported to Hoskote Government Hospital for further procedures. Police have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Additional information is expected as the inquiry progresses.
