Security Intensified Along Jammu-Srinagar National Highway During Ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra

Security has been substantially reinforced along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway as the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra continues, with authorities implementing extensive measures to safeguard pilgrims and ensure smooth movement for commuters. Security agencies have stepped up surveillance by conducting regular night domination patrols, deploying additional Quick Response Team (QRT) vehicles, and intensifying vehicle inspections at key points along the highway. Joint teams of police, CRPF, and other security forces are maintaining constant vigilance through coordinated checking operations to facilitate the safe and uninterrupted passage of yatris.
As part of the heightened security framework, a large-scale joint vehicle checking drive was carried out in Banihal, located in Jammu and Kashmirs Ramban district. Security personnel conducted thorough inspections while maintaining a high state of alert across the area. The strengthened security arrangements are part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at preventing any security threats and ensuring the peaceful, safe, and hassle-free conduct of the ongoing pilgrimage.
Alongside its security responsibilities, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has expanded its humanitarian efforts to support devotees travelling on National Highway-44 during the Amarnath Yatra 2026. CRPF personnel are continuously carrying out Road Opening Party (ROP) operations to secure the highway and ensure the safe movement of pilgrim convoys. In addition, the forces 84th Battalion has established a 24x7 Mobile Health Camp at Chanderkote in Ramban district, offering medical assistance to both pilgrims and local residents.
The medical facility operates under the supervision of Commandant N. Ranbir Singh, with Senior Medical Officer Dr. Anantha Krishnan leading a dedicated team of doctors and paramedical staff. Equipped with an Advanced Life Support ambulance and essential emergency medicines, the team is providing prompt healthcare services, underscoring the CRPFs commitment to the safety and welfare of devotees throughout the pilgrimage. The 57-day Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra began on July 3 and will conclude on August 28, coinciding with the festival of Raksha Bandhan.
