The house of Dr. Umar Nabi, the individual accused of driving the explosive-laden car involved in the recent Delhi blast near the iconic Red Fort, has been demolished by security forces in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. This controlled demolition took place overnight between November 13 and 14 as part of ongoing investigations into the deadly attack that killed 13 people and injured over 20 others.
Security agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and National Security Guard (NSG), conducted the demolition using an improvised explosive device (IED). The house was deemed an illegal property that may have been used to facilitate terror activities. The operation was heavily secured to ensure safety during the demolition process.
Investigations have confirmed Dr. Umar Nabis identity as the driver of the Hyundai i20 vehicle that exploded near the Red Fort on November 10. DNA evidence from the blast site matched samples taken from his family. Authorities have uncovered links between Dr. Nabi and a terror module involving medical professionals associated with the militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed. This network allegedly extended across Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, with handlers suspected to be operating from abroad.
The demolition of Dr. Umar Nabi’s Pulwama residence is a strategic step to collect evidence and disrupt any further terror operations connected to this case. Investigators continue to probe the broader terror network, with multiple suspects in custody. Authorities have also seized significant quantities of explosive precursors such as ammonium nitrate and potassium chlorate, which were linked to the operation. The Delhi blast has highlighted the disturbing trend of radicalized professionals exploiting trusted positions to carry out terror acts. Officials note that Dr. Umar Nabi, once considered an academically accomplished doctor, had reportedly been radicalized over the past two years through social media and other channels.
This incident underscores the critical need for vigilant intelligence and security measures alongside efforts to counter radicalization and promote social harmony. While dismantling terror networks is essential for public safety, fostering dialogue and understanding remains a key long-term strategy against the cycle of violence and division in society.
