Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Tuesday criticized Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, and Tejashwi Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal. He said Rahul Gandhi should first address problems within his own party. Singh claimed that some Congress MLAs have questioned Gandhi’s leadership and suggested that he should apologise for failing to manage the party effectively.
He also targeted Tejashwi Yadav, stating that losing even a single vote had weakened his standing and that he was no longer suitable to continue as Leader of the Opposition. Singh added that making allegations against the government’s leadership was easy, but insisted that Tejashwi Yadav should step down from the position voluntarily.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting that Bahujan Samaj Party founder Kanshi Ram be awarded the Bharat Ratna posthumously. In his March 15 letter, Gandhi said Kanshi Ram played a crucial role in reshaping Indian politics by mobilising Bahujans and marginalized communities and raising their political awareness.
Gandhi stated that Kanshi Ram encouraged people who had previously felt excluded from public life to view politics as a way to achieve justice and equality. He added that the Indian Constitution promises equality, dignity, and participation for all citizens, and that Kanshi Ram dedicated his life to turning these ideals into reality for the most disadvantaged sections of society, thereby strengthening the foundations of Indian democracy and making the political system more inclusive.
