President Murmu expresses condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in the Kurnool accident.

Droupadi Murmu on Thursday expressed deep sorrow over a tragic road accident in Kurnool district that claimed eight lives and left several others injured. Calling the incident distressing, she extended her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of those who were hurt in the mishap. The accident occurred near Chilakaladona when a Bolero vehicle collided with a ready-mix lorry, as per police reports. Five people died on the spot due to the severe impact of the crash, while three others later succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Narendra Modi also conveyed his condolences and described the incident as deeply painful. He expressed sympathy for the families who lost their loved ones and wished a quick recovery to the injured. The Prime Minister’s Office further announced financial assistance under the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. An ex gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh will be provided to the families of each deceased victim, while those injured in the accident will receive Rs 50,000 as support.
According to officials, around 10 to 12 individuals sustained injuries in the collision and were immediately rushed to Emmiganur Hospital for medical care. Police investigations revealed that the victims were pilgrims from Karnataka’s Chikkamagaluru region. Authorities are continuing to gather further details regarding the incident.
