Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor has taken an early lead in the Bankipur Assembly by-election as vote counting continues in Patna on Monday, according to initial trends. The contest is being closely watched across the country as it marks Kishors first direct electoral battle after years as a political strategist. Early counting showed Kishor ahead of BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha after the first round, with counting scheduled to continue through multiple rounds before the Election Commission announces the final result. The Bankipur bypoll was necessitated after BJP leader Nitin Nabin vacated the Assembly seat following his election to the Rajya Sabha. Apart from the BJP and Jan Suraaj, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) is also in the fray, turning the contest into a triangular battle.
