Posters were displayed outside Indira Bhawan in the national capital as supporters and party members extended birthday wishes to Rahul Gandhi, who is celebrating his 56th birthday today. Leaders from across the political spectrum also conveyed their greetings. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy praised Gandhi’s commitment to democratic values, social justice, and public welfare, saying it continues to inspire many, and wished him good health, happiness, and strength in his service to the nation.
The official handle of the Indian National Congress also shared a message highlighting his leadership and contribution to the party and the country. The post described him as someone who consistently speaks out against injustice, inequality, and misuse of power, and credited him with inspiring people to view politics as a force for change rooted in compassion and principles. It further referred to him as a voice for a generation seeking honesty, empathy, and hope, wishing him strength and happiness on his birthday.
Rahul Gandhi was born on June 19, 1970, at Holy Family Hospital in New Delhi. He is the elder child of Rajiv Gandhi, India’s former Prime Minister, and Sonia Gandhi, a former Congress president. He currently serves as the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and represents Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh, a seat he has held since June 2024. Earlier, he represented Wayanad, Kerala (2019–2024), and Amethi, Uttar Pradesh (2004–2019). He also served as the president of the Indian National Congress from December 2017 to July 2019.
