Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid homage to Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji on the occasion of his Parkash Utsav, recalling the Sikh Guru’s timeless legacy of bravery, compassion, and selfless sacrifice. In a message shared on X, the Prime Minister said that Guru Gobind Singh Ji continues to inspire generations to uphold the values of truth, justice, and righteousness, while also encouraging service and dedication to humanity. “On the holy Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, we respectfully bow before him. He stands as a symbol of courage, compassion, and sacrifice. His life and teachings motivate us to defend truth, justice, righteousness, and human dignity,” PM Modi wrote.
The Prime Minister also posted photographs from his earlier visit this year to Takhat Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib, one of the five sacred Takhts of Sikhism and the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He mentioned that during the visit, he had darshan of the Holy Jore Sahib of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji. The Prakash Purav, which marks the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, is celebrated every year with devotion and enthusiasm. Gurudwaras are beautifully illuminated to symbolize divine light, followed by Anand Path and Prabhat Feri, which begin several days before the main celebration.
The nation observed Veer Baal Diwas to honor the sacrifice of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh, the young sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who gave their lives at the ages of nine and six while defending the dignity of Sikhism. On January 9, 2022, Prime Minister Modi announced that December 26 would be officially observed as Veer Baal Diwas to commemorate their martyrdom.
