Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has intensified Indias outreach to international investors during his ongoing visit to the United States, meeting top executives from major global firms to discuss fresh investment opportunities and stronger business partnerships with India. Goyals US engagements have included meetings with senior leadership from Blackstone, Neuberger Berman and The Estée Lauder Companies. The discussions covered a wide range of areas, including private equity, financial and wealth management, manufacturing, sourcing and Indias expanding beauty and personal care sector.
During his meeting with Blackstone President and Chief Operating Officer Jonathan Gray and Prakash Melwani, Chairman of the companys International Private Equity business, Goyal explored ways to expand the firms investment footprint in India. The minister said the discussions focused on identifying opportunities across key sectors and building a stronger, long-term partnership between Blackstone and India.
Goyal also met Neuberger Berman Chairman and CEO George Walker, along with senior executives Anthony Tutrone, Andrew Komaroff and Zain Naqi. Their talks centred on expanding investment connections with India and creating greater opportunities in financial and wealth management. Highlighting Indias economic fundamentals, Goyal said the countrys resilient economy and increasingly deep capital markets make it an attractive destination for global institutional investors seeking scale and long-term opportunities.
Another key meeting was with Stéphane de La Faverie, President and CEO of The Estée Lauder Companies, in New York. The discussions focused on ways for the company to expand its operations in India, particularly through increased manufacturing and sourcing. The two sides also explored opportunities arising from Indias rapidly growing beauty and personal care market, which is being supported by rising consumer demand and an expanding middle class.
Goyals meetings form part of his broader economic and trade outreach in the US, where he also participated in the G20 Trade Ministers Meeting. The ministers discussions with major investors and multinational business leaders come at a time when India is seeking to attract more foreign capital, strengthen domestic manufacturing and integrate Indian businesses more closely with global supply chains.
The outreach also underlines Indias effort to present itself as a long-term investment destination rather than simply a large consumer market. For international companies, the combination of Indias expanding domestic demand, manufacturing potential and developing capital markets is creating opportunities across multiple sectors. With global investors increasingly looking for diversified markets and resilient growth prospects, Goyals engagements are aimed at converting Indias economic potential into deeper investment commitments and stronger commercial partnerships.
