Patna: 17-year-old girl student discovered dead in a hostel for girls in Bihar.

A 17-year-old student was found dead in her room at a girls hostel located in Patnas Chitragupta Nagar police station area on Tuesday, police officials said. The teenager, who belonged to Bihars Samastipur district, had been staying at the hostel while preparing for a competitive examination. According to ASP Sadar Abhinav Kumar, preliminary inquiries indicate that the student was pursuing studies related to law entrance preparation. However, officials are waiting for her parents to arrive and confirm further details about her academic background. The officer said that the girls body was found hanging inside her hostel room.
Following the incident, a forensic team visited the hostel and conducted a detailed examination of the room. Evidence relevant to the case has been collected for further analysis. Police have launched an investigation and are examining all possible angles, including the possibility of suicide. Kumar said that investigators are not yet in a position to draw any conclusions regarding the circumstances surrounding the students death. He stressed that a clearer picture would emerge only after the postmortem examination and the forensic science laboratory (FSL) report are completed.
The officer also stated that there were no immediate signs of forced entry into the room during the initial inspection. However, police are continuing to verify all facts and gather evidence before reaching any findings. As part of the investigation, authorities have seized the students mobile phone along with other items considered important to the probe. Statements from hostel staff, fellow residents, and family members are also expected to form part of the investigation. The case remains under investigation, and officials have said that further details will be shared once forensic reports and other findings become available.
