More than 20 schools in Delhi received bomb threat emails today, according to a report by news agency ANI citing Delhi Police officials. Initially, it was reported that two schools — Richmond Global School in Paschim Vihar and Abhinav Public School in Rohini Sector 3 — had received bomb threat emails on Friday morning. Delhi Police and fire services immediately responded to the scene, a Delhi Fire Service official confirmed.
A police official told PTI that teams from multiple agencies were deployed and thorough inspections were underway, but nothing suspicious had been found so far. This follows a similar incident on Wednesday, when numerous schools in the national capital received bomb threats, leading to panic and prompt evacuations. Those threats were later deemed hoaxes after extensive searches. On July 15, a 12-year-old student was detained for sending a fake bomb threat email to St Thomas School in Dwarka. The school reportedly received another threat within 24 hours. The child was later counselled and handed over to his family, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh.
Alongside St Thomas School, seven other institutions received bomb threat emails on Wednesday morning. Investigations revealed all of them to be hoaxes. Among the affected schools were Vasant Valley School (Vasant Kunj), Mother’s International (Hauz Khas), Richmond Global School (Paschim Vihar), Prudence School (Paschim Vihar and Pitampura), Sardar Patel Vidyalaya (Lodhi Estate), and St Thomas School (Paschim Vihar).
The threats were received between 5:26 and 8:12 am, with a total of 10 emails reported. All schools were thoroughly checked, and no threats were found. Notably, this marked the third consecutive day of bomb threat incidents targeting schools in the city — all of which turned out to be false alarms. Additionally, St Stephens College of Delhi University also received a threat claiming a bomb had been planted in its library, which was also found to be a hoax.
