Security forces have continued their intensive search operation in the dense forest areas of Dorimal and Gambhir Mughlan in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district as Operation Sheruwali entered its 36th day. The ongoing counter-terror operation involves the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and other security agencies working together to identify and neutralise suspected armed infiltrators believed to be hiding in the difficult mountainous terrain of the region.
Since its launch in late May, the operation has focused on extensive combing, surveillance and area domination exercises across the forest belt. Security personnel are maintaining a high level of alertness while conducting searches in challenging conditions, including rugged landscapes and thick forest cover. Officials said the joint forces are coordinating closely to ensure that every possible area is checked and security objectives are achieved. The operation remains underway, with additional security measures in place to prevent any possible threats and maintain stability in the region.
Authorities stated that the mission will continue until the area is completely sanitised and all operational goals are fulfilled. Continuous monitoring and patrol activities are being carried out to ensure that no suspicious movement goes unnoticed. Security officials also recalled an earlier incident in the Nowshera sector near the Line of Control (LoC), where a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and three Army personnel were injured in an accidental mine blast during a routine patrol. The incident took place in the forward Kalal area while troops of the 4 Kumaon unit were carrying out their duties.
The injured personnel were immediately evacuated and later shifted to the Army’s Command Hospital in Udhampur for specialised medical treatment. Security forces remain engaged in the region as Operation Sheruwali continues with the aim of maintaining peace and preventing infiltration attempts.
