Nirmala Sitharaman is set to present the Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha.

With the second phase of the Budget Session of Parliament resuming today, Nirmala Sitharaman is set to introduce the Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, aimed at further revising the Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008 and the Companies Act, 2013. As per the Lok Sabha’s List of Business, she will also seek consideration of the Finance Bill, 2026, which outlines the Centre’s financial proposals for the 2026–27 fiscal year. The House is scheduled to reconvene at 11 AM. Several ministers, including Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Jayant Chaudhary, Shobha Karandlaje, Kirit Vardhan Singh, Sukanta Majumdar, and Harsh Malhotra, are expected to table official documents during the session.
A report by the Committee on the Empowerment of Women, focusing on “Cyber Crimes and Cyber Safety of Women,” will be presented by BJP MPs D Purandeswari and Shobhanaben Baraiya, covering matters related to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy of the TDP and Gumma Thanuja Rani of the YSRCP will present reports from the Standing Committee on Housing and Urban Affairs, including updates on government action regarding earlier recommendations such as the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban).
Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary will present a statement on steps taken by the government on committee recommendations related to MSME credit flow, insurance sector performance and regulation, and Demands for Grants for 2025–26. Meanwhile, Minister of State for Corporate Affairs Harsh Malhotra will address actions taken on earlier recommendations tied to Demands for Grants for 2024–25.
The Lok Sabha passed Demands for Grants for multiple ministries, with Speaker Om Birla invoking the guillotine procedure before adjourning the House until Monday. Following a discussion on the functioning of the Agriculture Ministry, led by Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the demands were approved by voice vote. The House also cleared the Railway Ministry’s grants and the Appropriation (No. 2) Bill, 2026, introduced by Nirmala Sitharaman.
On March 17, the suspension of eight opposition MPs—initially imposed on February 3 for unruly conduct—was revoked with immediate effect. The second phase of the Budget Session, which began on January 28 with the President’s address to a joint sitting, will continue until April 2, covering 30 sittings over 65 days and focusing mainly on key legislative business and the Union Budget for 2026–27.
