French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Mumbai on Tuesday on a three-day official visit to India, where he is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and attend the AI Impact Summit. President Macron was received at the Mumbai airport by Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar. First Lady Brigitte Macron accompanied the French President during the visit.
Welcoming Macron, Chief Minister Fadnavis posted on X, extending a warm reception to the French President and his delegation and wishing them a successful and pleasant stay in Maharashtra. Ahead of his departure for India, Macron said his visit aims to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries. He noted that business leaders and representatives from economic, industrial, cultural, and digital sectors were accompanying him, reflecting the depth and diversity of India–France cooperation.
Prime Minister Modi and President Macron are expected to review progress in the India–France strategic partnership and explore opportunities to expand collaboration in emerging sectors. The leaders will also exchange views on key regional and global developments. During his visit, the two leaders will hold bilateral talks at Lok Bhavan in South Mumbai. They will also jointly inaugurate the India–France Year of Innovation 2026 and address business leaders, start-ups, researchers, and innovators from both countries.
