Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has declared an additional Rs 250 as a “shagun” (token gift) for the beneficiaries of the Ladli Behna Yojana on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. This will be provided along with the existing monthly financial support of Rs 1,250 under the scheme. The Chief Minister made this announcement on Monday during a public program held in Belkheda village, located about 40 kilometers from the Jabalpur district headquarters. He stated that the additional amount will be credited next month as a festive token for Raksha Bandhan.
The Ladli Behna Yojana aims to support women financially by offering monthly assistance. With the new announcement, beneficiaries will receive a total of Rs 1,500 in the upcoming month. During the event, CM Yadav also transferred Rs 1,551.44 crore as the June instalment to the bank accounts of 1.27 crore women who are enrolled in the scheme. According to officials, this is the 25th monthly instalment since the scheme’s launch.
In addition to these announcements, the Chief Minister shared plans for further development in the area. He declared the opening of a new government college in Belkheda and sanctioned the construction of an office complex and residential quarters for revenue department staff. He also laid the foundation stones and inaugurated various development works aimed at improving infrastructure in the district. The initiatives reflect the state governments continued focus on women’s welfare and rural development.
