Singer Mika Singh has publicly criticized Diljit Dosanjh, calling him a fake singer and irresponsible after the latter collaborated with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in his upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3. Mika expressed his disapproval in a detailed note shared on Instagram, condemning Diljit for featuring an artist from across the border amid ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan. In his post titled Desh Pehle (Nation First), Mika stated, We all know that India-Pakistan relations are strained. Yet, some continue to act irresponsibly. Before releasing content with cross-border artists, they should consider our nations dignity.
Mika also referenced the banning of Abir Gulaal, a film starring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan and Bollywood actress Vaani Kapoor, which faced backlash after the Pahalgam terror attack earlier this year. He expressed disbelief that artists still fail to grasp the seriousness of the issue, particularly criticizing Diljit for not addressing the controversy, which he said has left fans feeling betrayed and helpless. The upcoming Sardaar Ji 3 has attracted criticism from the public, music industry, and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). FWICE condemned Diljit and his team for casting Hania Aamir, citing her anti-India stance and called for a ban on the film and cancellation of passports for those involved.
They also wrote to producers Bhushan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, Nidhi Dutta, and director Anurag Singh, expressing discontent with Diljits casting in Border 2. In response to the backlash, Diljit posted a cryptic message on Instagram saying, “Censored before release?”—a likely reference to Punjab 95, a film delayed due to censorship. The film tells the story of Khalra, a human rights activist during Punjab’s militancy era.
Despite the ongoing storm, Diljit shared the trailer of Sardaar Ji 3 on Instagram, announcing that it will release overseas on June 27. He captioned the post: “Sardaar Ji 3 releasing 27th June OVERSEAS only. FADH LAO BHOOND DIAN LATTAN.” Notably, the trailer is unavailable on YouTube India but remains live on Diljit’s Instagram profile.
