Members of the Maldives National Cadet Corps visited prominent historical landmarks in New Delhi and Agra and held official meetings during their visit to India as part of their participation in the 77th Republic Day celebrations. In a series of posts on X, the Corps stated that the India Republic Day Camp participants toured key heritage sites and interacted with Indian officials, noting that these engagements aim to strengthen cultural exchange and foster international friendship. Another post emphasized that the cadets would share cultural experiences and interact with Indian and other foreign cadets.
The 77th Republic Day celebrations will be attended by European Council President Antonio Luis Santos da Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen as chief guests. According to the Ministry of Defence, around 10,000 special invitees, including spouses, from diverse backgrounds will witness the Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path in New Delhi on January 26, 2026.
The parade will feature at least 30 tableaux showcasing India’s cultural diversity and developmental progress. These displays will follow the themes “Svatantrata Ka Mantr – Vande Mataram” and “Samrddhi Ka Mantr – Aatmanirbhar Bharat,” also commemorating 150 years of the national song “Vande Mataram.” Of the total tableaux, 17 will represent States and Union Territories, while 13 will come from various Ministries, Departments, and Services.
Several states will highlight their cultural heritage and development stories. Assam will present the Ashirakandi craft village, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh will interpret the “Vande Mataram” theme, Maharashtra will depict Ganeshotsav as a symbol of self-reliance, and West Bengal will showcase its contribution to India’s freedom movement. Other tableaux will blend tradition with innovation, including Odisha’s “Soil to Silicon” theme, Tamil Nadu’s role in electric vehicle manufacturing, Kerala’s Water Metro and digital governance initiatives, and Nagaland’s Hornbill Festival.
Among central ministries, the Ministry of Culture’s tableau titled “Vande Mataram: The Soul-Cry of a Nation” will highlight the central theme, while the Department of Military Affairs will present a Tri-Services tableau on Operation Sindoor, symbolizing jointness. A floral tableau by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs will also mark 150 years of “Vande Mataram.”
