Maharashtra is preparing to roll out a new statewide government recruitment framework, aiming to fill more than 70,000 vacancies in a phased manner, with around 50,000 positions to be recruited through the Maharashtra Public Service Commission. The move follows a key meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, focused on accelerating governance reforms and administrative efficiency, particularly in human resource management and transparent hiring.
In a post on X, Fadnavis said the upcoming recruitment system will base hiring decisions on skill requirements, service rules, eligibility norms, and the nature of work. He directed all major departments to fast-track comprehensive reforms, with transparency and efficiency as core priorities. Amendments to state service recruitment rules are expected to be considered in an upcoming cabinet meeting.
Fadnavis also noted that Maharashtra’s human resource management model, presented at the Chief Ministers’ Conference attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, received widespread appreciation and was recommended for adoption by other states. He highlighted the development of online and digital verification systems to ensure a transparent, credible, and swift recruitment process. According to the Chief Minister, a new governance reform model is expected to take shape across Maharashtra within the next year, with active participation from all departments. The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary and senior officials.
